When I was hinting at Armorguy about building one since he was on a US armor kick, I didn't know ya'll had this going on. I still have a horseshoe kit from Rick. Its actually pretty simple to do yourself. It uses the m5 turret as a base. Maybe I can post pics of the parts. I don't plan to make any copies but you guys could get the general idea of how its put together and go from there. The M3 kicks it. the one from Possum looks wonderful as well. How do you guys find the time!

Well, I will follow this build with great interest as I would love to convert my 21st Stu to an M3.
I think a kit offering the conversion of the 21c to an M3 should still be viable....I know Jack Yang is still making tracks for them and I have heard someone is even making metal hulls now. (I get their Yahoo emails still). Just seems like this tanks is still popular and even now being kept going by a large interest. I can honestly say I would buy one....... Kit or scratch, I will get there someday. |

That's a great build. Very nice work! I would love to commision someone to build the Stuart hull for the Stuart V or M3A3 Stuart that was used by the British and the Free French.

Hi War4,
to convert a 21st cent m5 to a M3A3 is easier than the M3A1. ![]() You need to do some cutting to body shell, & add some new ...but with some good photo's or 1/35 models to work from & a little time its not to bad a build. Use plywood Or Plasticard to get the shell shape both are easy to work with. Thin 2mm ally or brass for mud guards & exhuast vent. Go on "Have a Go" Gary |

Neat work on this tank. I would have preferred the M3 version as it could be made into a Brit "Honey" and used in a earlier part of the war. I am a mid to late war collector but a few early items always adds spice to the mix. Look forward to further work done on this one.

Thanks for the comments... That M3A3 looks pretty cool :!:
Well I've been fighting off a cold for the last week as has my Son so progress has been slow... Got sections of the front half of the hull assembled and I started detailing them by adding panel lines where they'll need to be and marking out the section that'll need to be cut for the driver's hatch... Next I'll probably work on the forward MG position before adding the visor panels and bonding the front to the rear hull section... ![]() ![]() I'll post more as I feel better and get more work done... Thanks again for checking in... |
