Re: 21st Motorcycle

Falkner,

This is a great build! I have hoped for year Dragon would make a kit of a BMW with sidecar - I know it would be popular and sell as a kit. Honestly, I have also wished they would makw a WLA as well...even more so. I like motorcycles, as do other 1/6th collectors.

Anyw, please keep us posted on your progress - I love to read them!

Jim

Re: 21st Motorcycle

Thanks Henrik and Jim I also wish that DML would do a real plastic/metall BMW
and not that polystone crap.
Henrik I know my mental state is somewhat disturbed .

One off the biggest problem with
this 21st bike is that its not any certain brand. DKW is the bike
that I have found to be the closest to it. But there is to many
faults to reproduce a proper DKW.So what I will do is to pick
some goddies from here and there and put on my bike.

I got a crazy input yesterday to try to reproduce a light switch.
I used a 1/72 rund head slotted bolt, solder a piece off brass sheet
on it some file on that and voila pretty good I think.
And as it is tapped in it can be moved what do think Henrik?

Re: 21st Motorcycle

Some work done to the gastank so
that it could be refill :-) and I also
moved the locking cylinder to the left
insted off top and made a key for it.

Re: 21st Motorcycle

Now you have to put a small switch inside the light so you can use the switch to turn on the light.

Re: 21st Motorcycle

After looking at a lot off different picture
WW2 and renovated motorcycle I found
some more details I could do .

The first one was to fix another error from 21st
the sidecar wheel was mounted in wrong position
with the brake drum outside, couldn´t be left that way?

Another thing was those stabilize rods betwenn bike frame
and sidecar frame. So I used coppertube that I tapped 1/72
and some brass bolts that I solder to some brasssheet that I
try to make some decent u-hinges to.

End result was like this, some more cleaning up to do on them.
Did some dry fit yesterday.

Re: 21st Motorcycle

I love this thread. I got several of these 21st Bikes W and W/O side cars and they are pretty much indestructible but always lacked detail. All the mods your doing are great. I will be referring to this thread quite a bit in the future.
