Dio- "Der Windhund" to the Front, July 1944

“DER WINDHUND” to the Front
Sdkfz 234/3
Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 116
116.Panzer-Division "Greyhound”
30 July 1944
South of Mt. Robin
Northeast of Percy
Normandy Front

Here my recent 234/3 in a photo shoot set up, my entry in the recently concluded JP Hobbies Free Figures Contest. It represents a 234/ of the 116th Panzer Division’s reconnaissance unit northeast of Percy in the Normandy Front, shortly before getting onto the action against US troops. On the left of the scene, the commander of the 234/3 is in conference with two officers of the Panzer Regiment and the division’s 1st General Staff Officer, Heinz Gunther Guderian.
The 234/3’s crew is restocking the L24 75mm ammo, from a Sdkfz11 from the reconnaissance unit. On the background other vehicles of the same unit, a 251D, a Kettenkrad and a 250/9.
The wonderful short 75mm rounds are from Tim Bowman.

Nice set up! I wondered when we were going to see this one after seeing it as an entry for JP's contest. Yes, those rounds look really good! It looks like you had good weather for the shoot on this one.

Fabulous work Eduardo as usual, great layout.

And the setting all good indeed.

You take great pictures, might I ask what Camera you use?

Nice trees and grass also.

Re: Dio- "Der Windhund" to the Front, July 1944

Thanks!
My camera is a Nikon D70 with a Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 zoom lens.
It is probably 4-5 years old and I feel very confortable with it. Obsolete by now.
I take the images in the lowest size 1505x1000. I reduce them to 800x600 for the forums so find it is large enough. Camera goes up to 3008x2000.
Use ASA setting at 200 and generally try to avoid any speeds under 125. Never ise a tripod, but shooting sprawled on the ground, your arms are almost as good as a tripod!
