SDKFZ 234/2 Puma Armored Car Project

I have started on my BG Puma Kit. I will be building my Puma with a full detailed suspension. But before I can start machining the suspension, I needed to make some alterations to the hull to make the model more detailed.

BG PUMA Unaltered

To modify the hull I removed the molded in sections of the bottom fenders, and had to reconstruct the missing hull sections, the lower hull hatches, and the fender storage boxes.

Puma Gutted

Puma Reconstructed

Nice start.

I spent a lot of time grinding off the poorly molded hatches and accessories on mine too.
It would make life a lot easier if we were provided with just a nice, clean, accurate hull and turret.

I am not quite as for as you are on yours, I have grounded everything off and am making the masters for the suspension. I would like to know how you are adding more plastic under the fenders...no glue seems to stick to the type of plastic BG vehicles are made of. I figured I would have to bolt everything down. Yours is looking good! I plan on putting the hangelafette turret on mine.

That is looking Great! That stuff is fun to work with and the only sure fire way I have found to make sure stuff stays put is with screws. I also have had some luck with drilling holes through it and also holes into the item I'm installing and using epoxy. Can't wait to see this baby done.

Wow, you really hacked this one up! LOL It's looking good so far! After seeing the work you did on the M10 I don't doubt this will be the best Puma out there. I would be so afraid to remove so much. Your going to be the King of the rotomolded vehicles construction. It make me realize how good you can make something out of such a basic kit. I can't wait to see this one reach completion!

Thanks guys, Toy surgeon, the plastic parts are attached with epoxies, CA, and fasteners. I have had a lot of success in the past with this procedure.

I don't mind the molded in details, because they give you an idea of the placement and size of the object. You would have to remove these areas anyway if they were not present. At least this way they give you an idea where to make the cuts.

I have completed the lower fender storage boxes, I can now continue with the suspension.
