Re: New Dragon Figure Private "Robert Davies" BEF Lewis Gunner Dunkirk 1940
Very nice! Glad to see some new stuff from DML. I'm digging the webbing.
![]() And I'm glad to see the Lewis Gun reappear in 1:6th. Looks like at least part of DML's old previewed but aborted SAS trooper will finally see the light of day. ![]() Now, if only they'll release a quad AA mount... (Though from the shoddy looks of this mount, we could easily scratch build one with a little balsa wood and bailing wire.)![]() As it's primarily a WW1 weapon, the MG and accompanying webbing will be a nice complement to the upcoming DiD WW1 Tommy. But it also has plenty of uses in WW2 bashes as well, even outside of the early war period. Even after the British Army had sufficient quantities of Bren Guns by 1941-ish, the Lewis Gun continued to be used throughout the war by the Aussies, Kiwis, South Africans, Indians, Home Guard, RAF, Royal Navy, and the LRDG. A .30-06 version of the Lewis Gun also saw use in the limited quantities with the WW2-era US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The Dutch Army also had a number of Lewis MGs, chambered in 6.5mm Mannlicher and designated the M20, at the beginning of the war. These fell into German hands, and reappear in 1944-45 being used by second- and third-line German police, Luftwaffe, Volksturm, and Fortress units as the MG-100(h). Re: New Dragon Figure Private "Robert Davies" BEF Lewis Gunner Dunkirk 1940
The gun and ammo pouches alone make this one interesting. I have always liked this particular gun a lot. I bet it will be popular for those SAS jeep projects out there and of course with the new WWI figure... When the DID figure was announced a Lewis gunner wws hinted, and very quickly we see these images... I guess now we will get more than one Lewis! Specially for a vehicle project I would prefer a plastic light version to a heavy metal model...
The other project that comes to mind is that big Chevrolet truck used by the LRDG. It is amazing what a big impact so many of the Tamiya 1/35 models and box tops have had on my modelling life! This one would be awesome in 1/6! Awesome and VERY big! Last edited by egonzinc; 01-21-2012 at 12:23 PM. |

I like the weapon and the web gear. I'll likely grab one.

Re: New Dragon Figure Private "Robert Davies" BEF Lewis Gunner Dunkirk 1940
Looks like a good solid basic release, I have a Sideshow Lewis, but I'm sure the DML one is going to be very nice and I for one would like to have one or two. I'm really happy to see there will be a little more 37 pattern Battle dress out there. A leather jerkin is the one thing I would have liked to see to make it perfect.
