Tent post Q
Hi i have some cyberhobby stabzelts to prepare for a planned photoshoot.
The new frame poles are a shiny light grey, iwould like to weather them a little. 1 What were the real ones made from. 2 what colour were they. 3 Suggestions for improvement please. I have spent a fair time looking but lack of information that i could find has prompted my Qs.Thankyou for looking at this. Pete.Somerset, UK. 8) .....

DML made up their support system for the tent (Gross Stabszelt). It's a great idea for setting the tent up without ground but isn't true to the tent. This should help you figure out how they should be:
http://www.tentsmiths.com/period-ten...ff-access.html They are a producer of repro tents and have pages for their German tents. They leave it up to you what to make your posts out of but my reenactment unit has wooden posts and poles either unpainted or painted grey, for our truppenzelts. HTH... |

Grüß Gott Pete,
I think I can help you out with your questions since I did the R&D on the Stabszelts for CH. As Fusilier1944 mentioned, I suggested to CH that they make the internal framework so that the tent could be set-up as a free standing tent. The real Stabszelt uses wooden poles and ridgelines with metal fittings. The wood is usually natural and the metal fittings are black. Here are some sketches from an original manual that I have which will also help you with the guidelines: ![]() ![]() And here are some wartime photos of the Stabszelt: ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, I got out bid on an original 3-tone camo Stabszelt on eBay last week, or I would have the real deal to show you. Horrido! |

Those diagrams are great Patrick, thanks for sharing those. I'm gonna be taking my dml stabszelt out for a shoot soon, and now I can set the guidelines correct, you 'da man :!:
For the stakes I'm gonna use the one's that dml has put out with various sets, I can tie them to the guidelines and stick them in the ground, should work out pretty good. |

Re: Tent post Q
Thanks for the diagrams, I have a few of the original CH tents, I painted the frame/poles to resemble wood instead of getting dowels. I figure eventually I swap them out but because they are not really seen I could wait. The placing of the stakes and guy rope is a huge help.
