Der Schreiben Auf Der Wand... (pics added!)

Hi guys,

My expression headsculpt with the pained look on his face was very well recieved and it got me thinking about doing some others.

Here's a little shoot I put together to show off the head I just altered to look like a corpse. Remember the dreadful Hannes Diehl headsculpt? I said I was going to try and make it look presentable and this is the best I could come up with.

(The original offending headsculpt)

So here's my new life-like corpse head... anthough a corpse doesn't look life-like... and its a 1/6th head, which was never alive in the first place so technically it can't be a corpse... anyway!

Here it is lol:

All comments appreciated,

Cheers,
Peter.

Hi,
I like it very much! You turned Dragon’s worst head sculpt into a very expressive dead head. Great work. The garments look too clean, though, but this is just nitpicking.

Cheers guys,

I agree that the clothes on the figures are too clean but unfortunately it was raining when I took my shoot so I was unable to cover them in dust and dirt because by the time I was finished their uniforms were soaked through.

Hi,
I have attenuated a bit the Palmenmuster smocks with a wash. I will take a picture of mine and show it later. I believe it looks more 44-45 for such an old smock pattern.

Anyway, I really liked the head change. I dislike Diehl’s head with a passion, but you really revamped it. Could you tell a bit about your method to change it? Thank you.

Hi,
This is a Palmenmuster smock attenuated with two washing machine full cycles and a wash of Taupe, Burnt Sienna, and Red. I am displaying it on one of my WIP figures for my summer big project.

The original smock is from DML Hans Meisser.

Cordially,
ZP

Really love the effect on the smock!

Love the old faded and worn look it has.

As for the head sculpt, I removed the entire bottom jaw with a model knife and re built his mouth and chin. I also re-modelled the eyes. I made them wider to give them a slightly bulging look.

Cheers,
Peter.

Hi,
Thank you. You tweaked the eyebrows, too, didn't you? What material do you use for these add-ons? Thanks.

All in all a great looking dio. That DML headsculpt was probably the worse one ever made and you really did polish that turd into a gem. As far as the clean look of the unis in the Vintage look photos it doesn't show.

I was surprised not to see one of your hand painted backgrounds!

I did slightly change his eyebrows yes, I cut them off and resculpted them with miliput. (Beware, it eatch your hands after prolonged use)

and johnro, I did plan on doing another background for this one, but just decided to hand paint the sign on the wall instead :P lol.

Cheers,
Peter.
