• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    Scratchbuild: 3-inch gun M5

I still hope to finish this! 1:1 life has intervened. All my stuff is in storage, we're living in an apartment while we wait to buy a basement. (With a house on it.) It has been over 6 years, but the embers of this hobby still glow in my heart.

Does anybody make wingnuts that are close to 1/6 scale?

Re: Wingnuts Good question. The leg on my M1919A6 .30 cal broke off at the joint, and I might have to come up with my own wing nut.

    .50 Cal Ammo Tray Solutions

It seems a lot of us are toying with .50 cals these days! I up-gunned some of my vehicles over the last few weeks and I wanted to share some of what I did, in hopes this will help. Based on a photo, I used the 21C .30 cal cradle: I had to cut it and add spacers for it to fit. I built an...

    WSC Ambulance

Today I may have begun another project. For the first time since I bought it circa 2002, I took apart my White Scout Car. I wanted to figure out how much work it would take to make it into an ambulance. These were sometimes used by armored units. I'm not planning to go whole hog on it, but I do...

    234/2 wip

Looking great! I'll have to shoot it with my anti tank gun, if I ever finish it! Is the mantlet base an adaptation of the Stuart one?

    Italian Paratrooper

Your attention to detail is excellent, not just of the figure but of the rest of the items in the diorama. You say you're not satisfied with the room. What would you like to do differently?

    Sunny Italy

Very funny! Where'd the brelly come from ? When I lived in Florida, we called that "liquid sunshine." (Now that I'm in Minnesota, I'm calling it "powdered sunshine.")

    Preparing to invade 'Festung Holland'

Nice figures, I like the Flieger in the doorway. But like everybody says, that JU-52 fuselage is superb. The corrugation of this aircraft is iconic and you have captured it perfectly; the paint job is tremendous as well. Congratulations! PS I know what you mean about natural lighting being...

    First Figure - 502nd Pre-jump

First figure? Holy cow! I predict you will be coming out with some great stuff. Even if your figure is mostly stock, you knew what to upgrade, and you know how to make it all look natural.

    M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet

Good news, bad news. The good news: for the first time, I have stitched together a garment. The bad news: it SUCKS. I have a lot to learn. But at least I have started!

    M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet

Not having anything but photos to work from, I outlined the fabric panels on a Joe head, then cut out pieces of duck tape to fit each panel. I then stuck the pieces of tape onto a transparent plastic sheet. I can now make a paper pattern by first copying it, then flipping it over and copying...

    M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet

Thanks to Kelly for the link: http://www.be-comshop.jp/tank.html It's $56 in US$. A real, 1:1 vintage one is about $45. I'll still give it a shot. If I fall on my ass it won't be the first time. I think the trick would be to sew each half first. Then joining the halves would make it easier...

    M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet

I have a couple of custom projects for 2011 for which I could use some education and inspiration. One of them is that I would like to sew an M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet for my tank crews: I have a sewing machine and can just barely use it, so I thought this might be a good learning project...

    Tank/aircraft microphone T-17-B

I have a couple of custom projects for 2011 for which I could use some education and inspiration. One is that I would like to make a T-17-B microphone for my tank crews. I would appreciate some input on the project, if anyone is interested. I will probably make the bullet-shaped main portion...

    Armored combat: M5A1 vs. Schäferhund

In the dreary snowscape of the Ardennes, a lone M5A1 plays a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a Schäferhund (I believe it is an Ausf. C). YouTube - 2010 12 31 Tank ride 009
