• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Blog from one of the few remaining BoB, Ed Pepping.

I am fortunate enough to have met and talked with Ed Pepping (One of the Easy Company medics), as well as being friends with him on fb. His son Matt is managing Ed's fb account and posts, as well as a blog that has a few interesting stories. I am sure that many of you would appreciate...

New US (442) Figure from Caltek Based on Father of one of our own.

There are more pictures in a thread over at OSW that someone else has posted and more at the Cal-Tek site and their FB page. Someone also found this link where Tim talks about his dad quite a bit: Soldier's Forum - Henry Kano, 100th Battalion, Co. B

New US (442) Figure from Caltek Based on Father of one of our own.

Here's some info about Tim's dad provided by Tim Kano through Cal-Tek and the pictures: Henry Hisaichi Kano: Henry Hisaichi Kano was born and raised on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. He grew up in the town of Hanapepe. Henry left Kauai in 1934 for California. He moved to Los Angeles...

New US (442) Figure from Caltek Based on Father of one of our own.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I have a personal friendship with the guys from Cal-Tek) I talked to the guys from Cal-Tek today and they asked if I would post some info on a figure they have coming down the pike. It's a US figure (442) based on Tim Kano's (aka kanowarrior) father. Tim...

    DiD hands

I actually like the variety of sizes. My dad and a lot of his friends who worked in the steel mill had larger hand. If you want to get really nit-picky. Just about all the bodies for WWII are oversized. I think I remember reading that the average WWII US soldier was 5'7" and a 150 lbs.

Dragon Panzer II Photo Review - Initial Thoughts

Of the old style hatches I thought I saw 2 out of a 3 total for the B in North Africa. I was wrong about the US and British captured ones, they were C's but I thought the one captured by the British was a C without the front armor additions. It's in several of the Concord books - different...

Dragon Panzer II Photo Review - Initial Thoughts

Not necessarily true for DAK. I have a few sources (mostly Concourd I believe) that show some B's (most of these were after they were captured by both the Britts and the US). There were also some C's that did not have all the armor upgrades (the angular front plates) as well as still had the...

    Panzer II

Nice work. If I could find a decent reference, I might know what you're referring to as far as the weld beads. I have had trouble finding good pics on the suspension, road wheels and tracks.

    Panzer II Building Questions Thread

That's good to know. How is that Panzer tracks book? I have one on the way and can't wait. I have the shiffer book on the Panzer II and the shiffer book on the Panzer I and II and think the prior is the better bang for the buck, in spite of several mis-identifications.

    Panzer II Building Questions Thread

Mine has a little warping, but about a 1/16th on the lower right corner of the upper half. What's up with that grill cover below it? It's designed to only cover 90% of the whole designed for. It just doesn't look right.

    Panzer II Building Questions Thread

I hadn't tested my hatches yet. I have been trying to figure out the issue of making the wheels moveable. I found some bearings that should fit. As soon as they come in, I'll let you guys know what I have found. Well if the warping occurred as part of cooling, a hair dryer or heat gun may...
