Looks good to me & reasonably priced too. Interested to see reviews when & if they arrive in the current climate.

Thanks Antony

I know, some think it's a joke or something, but imo it's real. The manufacturer produces RC aircraft beforehand and finds nothing that makes me suspicious

the jeeps are really in the pipeline

https://www.facebook.com/FMSmodel/ph...type=3&theater

and when you collect 1/6th scale vehicles this is a very good sign, just think about the DML Firefly, the Taowan M20 and many other vehicles never see the light.

also you can order a custom vehicle and have to wait 2 years or spend thousends of dollars.

a RC Jeep from a well known manufacturer for about 300 bucks...... like i sayed before shut up and take my money

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

I've bought some of Rochobby R/C airplane kits and they are of high quality and fly well.

Placed an order for the jeep with a dealer's rep of FMS models yesterday.
website is www.fmsmodel.com Their price is $ 269.00 with free shipping and a shipment date of April 21st is listed in the product description.

I also agree that any new offerings in 1/6 scale is a good sign and especially for an R/C vehicle that is reasonably priced. Usually the cost to convert a Dragon or 21st Century jeep is much more costly than $ 269 and takes a lot of work. So yea, I'm very happy about this release.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Yesterday afternoon the FMS Models site had over 40 left in stock to preorder. Was curious to see how they are selling and just checked the website and it is now down to 5 left in stock.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

when I converted my own jeep to RC the axles alone were 200€ without buying anything else. 290€ for an RC jeep is very cheap.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

From the info on the FMS website, the delivery is April 21st this year, a little over two weeks from now.

I agree about the cost, have used a 1/10 rc offroad for the basis of a jeep conversion and the kit alone cost more than this factory offer. Plus had to add a jeep body and lots of time to convert.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

FMS Models is sold out for the April 21st shipment and they posted a new pre order for a shipment with a May 15th shipping date. Just for fun checked the number of units and there are 92 available for pre order.

I hope that the brisk sales will motivate Rochobby to produce other 1/6 RC vehicles preferably WWII era.

maybe a schwimmwagen or a kubel, a small tracked vehicle would be nice something like a M29 Weasel, Bren Carrier.....

or maybe some conversions of the jeep, SAS or Medic jeep. i wonder if my DML armored Jeep steel plate will fit into the jeep.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

I ordered one too. At that price hard to beat. I have 2 Dragon jeeps I was going to convert, but this saved some time and hopefully $$$. Looks like a decent drivetrain. Don't care for the faux engine - a little too much faux. But perhaps can be detailed.
Hopefully they didn't mean 2021 on that delivery LOL.
We'll see

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Received an email today that it is ready to ship along with a tracking number. On the FMS Model website the price of the jeep for new orders has been increased from $ 269 to $ 289. Still a good price compared to building one from scratch, but would rather have the $20 in my pocket.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Leonard a good crawler (new) is North of $300 (SCX10) so this is still reasonable priced even at $290. If they get popular the price will climb too. Hope it doesn't have plastic gears like those WPL trucks. The drivetrain looks good. Real rubber tires look great.

I got the email too, saying my order has been "fulfilled". LOL. Don't quite get the feeling yet.

Fingers crossed,
B

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Mine shipped yesterday & should arrive within the next 1-2 days. Will post comments & photos once I've got the battery in & taken it out for a test drive. Overall looks solid from the video & one can't beat that price with a stick.

Only issue I see is the windshield glazing appears too tall. No idea why but does look a bit wonky.

BTW, I asked about the canvas canopy & .50cal they are NOT included in the base vehicle but will follow shortly as an optional accessory.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Yep you are right, have a jeep conversion that used an Axial SCX-10 and with all said came in around $400 plus the labor for conversion, so I agree that the price increase to $289 is still a bargain. Hope that the jeep accessories will be available soon.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Mine arrived earlier today but I won't see until after I get home from work.

Dealer advised its not Axial SCX-10 comparable but in-house design similar to what HG does. I'm still waiting to hear from FMS on spares availability. Was told gears are combination steel & nylon so will do some digging later once I get my hands on it.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

My initial comments after unboxing;

Overall it looks great, is well built, with ABS body, detail parts metal frame & a mix of metal / nylon parts, Great packaging which is modeled clearly off HG's excellent foam box. Detailing is amazing & you'll love how the steering rotates when you turn the wheels. A very nice touch! I can already see the aftermarket going to town when it comes to accessories.

Can't wait to get it outside tomorrow. Drove it around my living room tonight & found it quite very responsive both in throttle & steering.

At only 4kg its quite the lightweight which is half as much as the 1/10 HG Hummer. I see a lot of bouncing around at speed on uneven terrain.

One thing I didn't expect: the suspension with its much touted oil shocks are far too soft to carry any load. I was disappointed to see how much the body leaned with just one figure in the driver seat & with another figure in the passenger seat it drove around like a drunken sailor lurching from side to side. Don't even think about adding another in the rear since its almost sitting on the rear wheels. Its no wonder FMS posted videos of it driving without figures. These absolutely need to be changed out with something more firm so need to look into what can fit.

Will post photos & comments after I get it outside for a proper test drive tomorrow.

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

have you had chance to try the jeep out since you received it, a stiffer set of springs will not be a major change.

I have attached a few videos of my own RC converted Dragon jeep to show the off road performance.

Do you own a Drgaon Jeep and if so, could you post side-2-side comparison foto's? I wonder if a Dragon jeep body could be fitted on top of the chassis and drive-line.

Also, could you measure the width between the wheels and the distance between the axles?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

fusilier,
Yes I have one and it took 3 1/2 months to get. I actually gave up on it, submitted PAYPAL claim and it showed up a week later. All coincidence. But it is a very nice model and crawler for the price. The best place to get them and replacement parts is Banggood. I ordered mine through FMS and they are no longer available through them.
https://usa.banggood.com/ROCHOBBY-1-..._warehouse=USA

Dutchman: the wheel base is 324mm long, 232 mm wide.

Best regards,
B

Re: ROC Hobby Willys MB 1941

Has anyone ordered and received one of these from banggood? It seems like an amazing product at an amazing price if you actually get one. I'm very tempted. But I have little faith nowadays without some decent intelligence.
