Dragon Panzer ll question

Hello everyone.
Just purchased both versions of the above vehicles.
On the D.A.K. version the Commanders hatch will not open. Its a pre-built version.
Were all the turret hatches non functional?
Thanks. Al

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

I do recall the hatch on my 'C' variant was unlike the 'B' in that the commander's hatch was non-functioning so mine is now fixed in the open position via the addition of a hinge (having to gently crack it loose from the closed position). Strange really given the level of detail afforded in such a large model. I also recently bought a kit-form 'C' for $50 AUD from a guy who just didn't want it, the strange thing about the kit-form 'C' is that it comes with two types of turret (the standard and the up-armoured for the 'C') and larger storage bins for the track guards so options avail there. All-in-all, I don't mind the Dragon pre-build and kits...just wished they brought-out the Sherman Firefly before ceasing their 1/6th line. I put out four of the II/Bs for the 2014 Blitzkrieg diorama but now I'm looking at probably letting a couple go as I can't see myself using them again on such a large diorama...but first, a photo planned where I'll have all four 'B's in column driving down past a long column of infantry circa France 1940...such is the plan. Cheers, Steve

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

In the kit form the turret hatches for the cupola can be made functional although it requires a lil modifying, the instructions recommend assembling in either open or closed positions

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

I made a pre-built C into a Russian Front 1942 version and it was long enough that I don't remember what I did to it, but the hatch is operational.

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

One more observation, if you are planning to make an ausf B version, you should get the 1/6th Icons (now available through Field of Armor)front tow hooks and tow cable fittings. Both the kit and pre-built versions of the early version came without these parts...

Here my France 1940 PzII after adding the parts:

Here the same tank, before adding the tow hooks and tow cable pieces:

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

Thanks Steve,
The tow hitches, cable and fixtures for the tow cable are from 1/6 Icons. That line from Mike Stannard (RIP) was picked up by Field of Armor. There is a 1/6th Icon link in the FOA web page.

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

Cheers Eduardo,

Though my credit card would disagree, I'm enjoying some of the offerings of FOA, great detail and will most definitely provide an additional edge of detail to my model plans. The tow cabling and stays for the Pz IIB are a nice touch and has always baffled me why DML'S 1/6th model never came with them. Thanks again, Steve

Re: Dragon Panzer ll question

Thanks for all the replies gentlemen.
I forgot l posted this. Lol.
I eventually got it opened, but broke part of the hinge.
Btw, thanks on the update Eduardo. Great piece.
I just can't understand why Dragon has done all the goofiness over the years.
Thanks again everyone.
Cheers.
