Dio-"Morning Recon", Sdkfz234/2, Normandy, July 1944

“Morning Recon”
Sdkfz. 234/2
Panzerspähzug, Stabskompanie
SS-Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 1
1.SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler
Normandy, July 1944

Breaking in a new feature in my garden. The original single hedgerow was lengthened and a curving twin hedgerow was added with a pathway in between.
For the first images I brought out my “Puma” with a couple of “dressed down” generic figures for the crew.

Here some poor mobil phone images of the WIP in the garden:

You rock Edurado! Your addition to the terrain is an awesome idea and the possibilities are endless! I wish i had that space but it does give me some ideas. However, being in michigan, ill have to wait for te spring. My area of terrain has grown little by little as well. Your puma looks awesome! I always enjoy your dios. How i wish i were back in puerto rico these days!!!!

That is just fantastic. The Puma, figures and the new landscaping blends into something pretty cool and real looking. Very well done.

Very very interesting construction work on your garden.

Suggest that you use your Adobe photoshop to remove the green background bush and use a B/W photo of Normany landscape for the background which would look great and more realistic!

Excellent dio, and great landscaping. That's a lot of work, but it looks great.

I love your back yard! You dios always look great and you have a nice selection of vehicles. I don't know if you could do it but I would dig up the grass and just have the road done in dirt.

Re: Dio-"Morning Recon", Sdkfz234/2, Normandy, July 1944

You did Dennis!
Tge thing is that it changes on its own ang through the tropical seasons and I add some bits here and there.
The civered road I have used is not supposed to be a road. It is supposed to be a path, so I couls eadiky dig it up to make a dirt road, but ai have no plans to do it.
I do have a separate dirt road ( a shorter version of which was used for many dios including the Falaise piece with Dennis THREE years ago!) and I have plans to plant some trees on one side of this dirt road. The idea was always to do a Polish/ Russian village along this road for a big 1941 gathering... What derailed this long term project was the visit by Dennis and my concentration on Normandy almost exclysively since then. Visiting Normandy in 2010 only fueled the fire! As tgey say, more to come... I'm also battling some ficus eating bugs and now in tge peak of tge tropical storm season it gets interesting... Need to cut down the huge ficus along tge edges or any wind might bring them down... We just lucked again with Isaac, staying low and weak as it goes past us...
Never a dull moment in the Tropics in August and September!

Eduardo friend, congratulations! By car, and especially the diorama scenery. My dream is to have a garden in scale.

Re: Dio-"Morning Recon", Sdkfz234/2, Normandy, July 1944

It has been 18 months since we planted these small trees and they have grown to four times their original size if not more. Definitely changes all the time. Hard to control, but change is good!

Re: Dio-"Morning Recon", Sdkfz234/2, Normandy, July 1944

I was reading some of the posts in this old thread and realized some of you thought they guy planting the trees was me!
Jajajajaja!
That is my youngest son!
The trees are a lot bigger now, even though I trim them a lot. The "tree trunks" have gotten a lot thicker and the shade is making the area between the hedges a dirt road, even if I wanted something different!
