Re: PzII Turret Interior

Thanks for the photos. Nothing there in the split hatch photo, so obviously it was a decoy much like the fake driver visor on later PzIIs.

Re: PzII Turret Interior

Been working on finishing up MG and came across some new ref material, gonna have to redo the receiver cover, my version although cool n woulda been functional was off n a new one should be easy enough to make, still have to pick up proper paint, but here's an update, not sure why obsessing over this detail wise as no one will ever see, but the bolt is functional lol

Re: PzII Turret Interior

Have had some issues with uploading pic’s, but have been busy cleaning and prepping parts, placed orders with micro fasteners and Armorpax, finished my new receiver cover for the MG34

Re: PzII Turret Interior

And continuing on with the detailing

This will swivel back allowing change out of the barrel without removing the MG as the real version

Re: PzII Turret Interior

Small update on MG, added the retaining pin to hold rear closure in the locked position, all this allows chang out of the barrel as in the real MG mount

And one last one showing what this is all about

On a side note, the barrel in the last pic I painted with Model Master Metalizer Lacquer 1455 as suggested by ROB48 (I had ordered this before I saw Armorguys tutorial), it's a great match to the color DML used, and is great for those of us that don't yet own an airbrush...and looks amazing imo, will just needs a lil weathering when finished, thanks Bob

Re: PzII Turret Interior

A few turret updates, modified the lift hooks, the original on the left and the modified on the right, I made one of the holes larger sans the real lift hooks

Drilling and countersinking screw

Worked on hatch interior, coated head pads with real leather and modified latch n locking mechanism to be a lil more believable

Working on hinges and muzzlebreaks

Hinges are for turret hatches, removed old ones and am upgrading with Panzerwerks hinges I’ve had for a while

Working on the KwK’s, upgrading muzzle breaks with Armorpax’s, bottom is original DML, and top is with new muzzlebreak

And as with everything else thus far, I just can’t let go, more detailing on the muzzlebreak

More details n parts being worked on

Re: PzII Turret Interior

Sorry for delay in updates, been so much going on, but although no updates I have been working steadily on two PzII’s and a third turret, lots n lots of mods, every piece a project in itself lol Here’s a quick shot of the Panzer Factory

Re: Pangaea’s PzII

That build is looking great.
I can see you will do some serious detailing when needed.
Question- where did you get the hatch latches, I need some
Cheers

Re: Pangaea’s PzII

Steve I do apologize, I can't believe I have missed your posts, or rather haven't seen them until now...and I visit daily, hopefully the new board software will take care of that, thanks for the kudos guys, hope to have more pic's of progress up soon, have been taking break for summer, Steve not sure what you meant by the"latches", but having viewed your recent pic's I think you may have found them?

Re: Pangaea’s PzII

LOL, I meant hinges.

I will be following your build and taking notes on the detailing you are doing.
The turret i am working on now in my post is a practice one. It is not intended to be the final one . Once I get a Panzer B from Dragon I will mod the turret from what I learned modding the turret on the experimental one.
I will be making a new curved mantlet and reducing the hole size for the KWK30.
In respect to your build are you planning to do a full internal build?
I believe the turret needs the detail shown as it has such a large opening and you do need the internal parts or it looks incomplete.
Keep the pictures comming

Re: Pangaea’s PzII

Ahhh, the hinges I got from Panzerwerks many years ago, and like you there's been a buncha prototyping going in the war room, I really need to get more pic's up, not sure how far I'm going to take the interior detailing, I agree the turret is a must!!! I've been on a bit of a break for summer, but am gearing back up to get into full swing again soon, and glad to see you working on yours again as well
