'The one with his name on it' Tommies In France, 1944
Another bash using the borrowed tommy figures (thanks morse monkey).
Not being able to weather the figures was rather constraining so I came up with the ingenious plan of taking the photo's then editing them with a paintbrush after they were printed ![]() I also changed the mood from comic to tragic. Hope it works ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As always, all comments much appreciated ![]() Cheers, Peter. |

Very nice!
I like the story very much - I'm not a big fan of paintshopping - but as the figures are borrowed - its allright... The backgound and figures work great - even without the ps'ing. Henrik

Awesome, Peter! Simply awesome!
I always love seeing some Brits in the field. ...Speaking of which, I need to get my hands on a good Bren gun... |

Your best bet would be the DID bren that came with Michael Taylor if you can still get it, I know its still available in the UK it may still be available in the US.or the bren that came with bbi Douglas keyes is pretty sweet.

Re: 'The one with his name on it' Tommies In France, 1944
I missed this set the first time around. On the whole, it is very well done, as usual.
However, I dislike the "digital" weathering. I think using unweathered figures (as in the last three shots of the series) isn't that noticable. And even if it is noticable, a lack of weathering is certainly less distracting than the very obviously edited photos with computer painted weathering. Perhaps if the digital weathering was more subtle, it would be feasible. But I imagine that would require some higher-end editing software and quite a bit of practice. That said, it was a good thought, and an interesting experiment. I'm glad you dredged this up from the archives so we could check it out. |

Peter, you keep nailing these shoots. Simple, direct, dramatic!
Very well done. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks everyone,
This shoot looks a little dated now, but I still quite like the effect. Cheers, Peter. |
