TIGER 101 Gunnery practice

Back in 1999 Dragon released Fritz.

I decided he needed a tank, so I started to build him a Tiger. (This was before Armortek came out with there model). This was my first scratch build.

Anyway jumping ahead I had the turret made and the hull made when Armortek came out with there Tiger so I got that and sat this on the side.

I then found this picture and an idea came to me.

So here is what I made.

Re: TIGER 101 Gunnery practice

Very nice scratch-built turret indeed. Let's hope the crew's shooting improves before they get their own tank. 'Fritz' I think was DML's first panzer figure and their first 'special'...by that I mean he came in a version wearing different clothing; in this case 'peadot' pattern HBT trousers. Then again, back in 1999, who knew they'd end up releasing so many Germans. Cheers and thanks for the nostalgia, Steve

Outstanding display, turret, base and figures.
Interesting use of a turret

Reminds me of Tiger 231, I believe her turret was used for training like yours.

Re: TIGER 101 Gunnery practice

Excellent work on the turret and figures. Really cool. The gun bore looks a little small to be 88mm though?
Best regards,
Bob

Re: TIGER 101 Gunnery practice

Thanks for the comments.

If you look at the shot of 231 on the bunker you can see that it does not have a hatch on the commanders cupola.
Thanks for the link.

Thanks Bob for pointing that out about the bore. That is something I missed but it is now fixed.

That's a pretty cool concept, Kapernakis!

Thanks for sharing the 1:1 photos as well!

The Fritz throwback is also pretty cool as well! Thanks for that blast from the past!

Very nicely done, and an unusual subject.
