WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Just a couple of shots of some of my Sailors, reworked a little. Plus I had a SOTW jeep collecting dust so I thought I'd try making it look like a USN vehicle.
Still lots to do, I have to stencil USN and a serial number, maybe some black stars etc. Just fiddling around for now. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking Tim

Nice Sailors!
I do not see pics of Sailors posted that often and not many NAVY figures. Thanks for posting. Shawn

Nice, Tim!
Agreed with Shawn - you don't see these guys often! All look sharp as does the Jeep which kinda takes me back - my first vehicle mod was a SOTW Jeep for a Soviet Lend-Lease Jeep. Nicely done! Now all you need are some shore patrol figures to ruin the joy ride! Fred |

Re: WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Great looking sailors. The guy in the back on the right kind of reminds me of Bogey. I've been wanting to do some naval figures myself; if you don't mind my asking, where did you find the uniforms? So far I haven't been able to find anything anywhere. Great work!

Love it. the tattoos are great and love the guy with the glasses. He has such a baby face and when you are young in a group there is always one. Thanks for sharing. SHEP

Looking good, good choice of head sculpts, uniforms and jeep also great.
Looks like they are ready for businesses or just heading downtown to blow off steam.

Re: WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Thanks for the kind words everyone. The tattoos are from Archers fine transfers. They do decals in a variety of scales.
I wish one of the big companies would do some US or RN sailors. If you look at how fast the Elite brigade sailor uniforms have sold out at Cotswold , that has to tell you it would be a successful item. Tim

Re: WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Very nice Tim, but I think you're mistaken - they're not sailors.
They can't be, they're not fighting with each other!

Re: WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Tim, beautiful work on this group of figures and the jeep! This is one of those projects I really like to come back to and look at because of the details and work put into it. The tattoos are a great touch-everything about this works for me, a great assortment of characters and looks. A great period piece and a subject not often done......kudos!! Jim

Nice job, Tim. I expect them to start singing 'There Is Nothin' Like a Dame' any second!

Re: WIP Some sailors and their jeep
Nice lookin' swabbies, Tim. I'm curious to see how you finish them up. I have one of the GI Joe Navy jeeps that I plan on doing up as a shore patrol vehicle.
Don't know if you are aware, but the the dungaree trousers and blue jeans aren't the same thing. From pre-WWII until the last decade, the enlisted sailor working uniform for petty officer's first class and below in the U.S. Navy was virtually unchanged. The trousers were the hated dungaree "back pockets on the front and back" design. Your guy on the right has the correct ones (I actually had to wear that uniform for 1 week as a midshipman - something I rarely admit. Got myself attached to a Marine unit as quickly as possible). It's also worth noting that during WWII Chief Petty Officers also wore dungarees for a working uniform, but they wore khaki officer style combination covers instead of dixie cup covers.
