Diorama Bases

I have been working on some bases for the past month. Here are the results. I used arbomambo's method with a dremel engraver. Paint was done both by hand and by airbrush. I set down a watered down black ink layer, and then the top coat. Some drybrushing over that was done on some. A-E are around 5"x7", while F is around 8.5"x11" and G is 20"x8".

Hey they look good. I have one question/ critique for you though. Why are the stones so tiny? Im not trying to say you are wrong but wouldnt they be bigger?

StrictlyAirborne,

A ,F and G have bricks roughly 1" X 1/2". D and E are roughly 1cm X 1/2cm, while C is 1cm X 1cm.

In scale a regular U.S. brick is 1.5" x 2/3" x 3/8". So your correct on the small side. There are also different dimensions in Eastern Europe compared to Western Europe, which are smaller than the US counterparts. I also think they just look small due to a lack of a figure on it. They look reasonable with one standing on it in person - they all do.

Well ok then. I guess you can say that because you have the bases right there with you.

All look good but that one with the Multi color kind of throws me off a little.

So maybe, maybe not.

Italy Spain?

One thing though is the use of foam .

I do Dio's in 1/35 scale and I use a base of 1/4 " plywood or I think it might break if moved a bunch ,shows and stuff.

Cheers

Absolutely GREAT!.....
These have really turned out very nice!...you've really got the technique down...
a note for those that aren't familiar with this foam...it's very dense and very strong for this purpose.
...and that mosaic tile/stone looks great! (I've just finished laying tile in 3/4 of the entire house...it looks all too familiar to me!)
again...VERY NICE WORK!...the bases really enhance the figures!

Reef12,

I was going for a MTO base. But I agree with you that the coloring is a little funky.

Thanks arbomambo. I had the idea of doing this forever, but just no time.
