Hi there,

I took a DML Hermann Stahlschmidt and essentially dropped the radio equipment and Geberigsjager insignia, added a K98 and Panzerfaust with the intention of making him into a panzerjager. He has the light green piped collar tabs on the splinter smock - is this acceptable? From what I've read, light green piping denotes either mountain troops or light infantry. Would light infantry been involved with tank hunting?

TIA.

Grüß Gott Panzerjäger Covert,

Good question. Both Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Infantry) and Jäger (Light Infantry) wore light green Waffenfarbe....though it was only worn by divisional staff and the rifle regiments within the division. The other units within the division wore their appropriate Waffenfarbe. So the Division's Artillery would have Red Waffenfarbe, Signals - Yellow, and Panzerjägers would have Pink, etc.

So if you want to make a figure from a Jäger Division's Panzerjäger Battalion, he would have the Jäger (Oakleaf) Cap and Sleeve badges with Pink piped shoulder boards.

Mit einem kameradschaftlichen Horrido!

They didn't wear shoulderstraps on splinter smocks. Some Sr NCO's and Officers did have tunics made from spliter zelt material and did have them fully badged up with breast eagles, collar tabs and shoulderstraps. There are no provisions made ona splinter smock to put shoulderstraps on them
