In 1941 Major-General Frederick 'Frank' Worthington (1889 1967) founder of the Canadian Armoured Corps proposed that a 3.7 inch AA gun be mounted on a Ram chassis to act as a mobile AT gun. He claimed that the 2 and 6 pounder QF guns would soon be considered pea shooters against Germany's next generation of tanks. A number of prototypes were produced with one being sent to Britain for trials. The idea was eventually poo-pooed, one is left to wonder if these had been made available for the African campaign things might have been a little more lively for Rommels tanks, the Germans would have felt like the Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, SA and Indian tankers up against Rommels 88's.
