Hey Gang,

I have long been a North African theater fan. DAK and desert stuff is pretty cool. I also just finished reading the outstanding Killing Rommel by Steven Pressfield which is a thrilling read of well researched historical fiction. If you have not read any of Pressfield's books, you should check them out. He writes what is technically fiction, but is really a well researched history book that he tells from a character's narrative to provide context. At any rate, that book gave me an even greater appreciation for the men and machines of the SAS and LRDG. It is kind of frustrating that anything tan and British gets labeled as SAS. The LRDG were also tough as nails dudes and operated hand in hand with the SAS in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. Dragon has answered the call and done a North African version of their outstanding Jeep which is painted and weathered out of the box. The new tooled Vickers K guns as well as SAS/LRDG modifications such as the radiator condenser and jerry can racks, make this a must have and eliminate the need for all the scratch building that 1/6ers have had to do in order to do a SAS/LRDG conversion. Check out the review.

It's always nice to see reviews. And you guys do nice pics and really get itno some nice detailed pics.

I do not care for the paint job at all on this. It just looks too manufactured, DML has never done good weathered job they would be better of just painting a vehicle faded and let the buyer do the details. The price of this Jeep is just way too much for what it is. I would never pay that much for a Jeep no matter what they call it or how they promote it. $300.00 no way!

Thanks Brady Exclamation

I am not a big fan of the paint job either, not most of the DML paint applications. They look 'fine' but all seem to have he same 'style', if that makes sense. A little too heavy on the airbrush for my taste, and the chips look fake to me as well.

My 2 cents.

I spent 11 months in Lybia back in the early 60's and when we went out to the bombing range they had all kids of vehicles that stayed out there in the sand and rocks. I never saw any that had that many chips or any at all. It looks OK but the paint sucks. Chips go into the paint not on top.
