Just finished this project, enjoy it !!

SS-Scharführer, 6-SS Gebirgs Division Nord
Karelia, Fall 1944

On September 1944 the Finnish government signed an armistice with the USSR which effectively meant a declaration of war on their former German ally. All the German forces within Finnish territory had to conduct a quick withdrawal from the Arctic Front to Norway. The 20th Mountain Army marched nearly 1000 miles between September and November with the SS-Gebirgs Division Nord providing rearguard cover against harassment from Finnish forces. After concluding successfully this retreat operation, the Nord Division was transferred to Germany in time to participate in Operation Nordwind on early 1945.

This figure depicts a SS-Scharführer of one of the Nord Division SS-Gebirgsjäger Regiments during the strenuous march of withdrawal in the Karelian and Lapland forests upon arrival of the first snowfalls. He wears a late war M1943 tunic displaying a full range of SS-Gebirgsjäger insignia and decorations, M1943 field cap, woolen toque and gloves, and winter camo overtrousers. Rugged German Army mountain boots with heavy cleated soles are also worn.

His personal belongings are carried in a late pattern army standard rucksack. His armament consists of a captured PPSH-43 SMG and its distinctive magazine pouches, as well as a P-08 pistol in a black leather holster.

The figure looks great!

Is that backpack from Soldat 4?

¡Hola! Fernando und Grüß Di' hohen Norden Kampfers!

Excellent research, kit bash, and weathering!!! A true Bergkamerad from the 6. W-ss Gebirgsdivision Nord.

I really like the weathering you did on the white trousers. Can you explain your technique?

Thank you for all your comments !! Very Happy

I will answer now your questions:

Jakob. Yes, the backpack is from Soldat 4, so are the M1943 cap and the HS.

Heeresbergführer. For the white winter pants weathering I used Tamiya acrylics paint, flat earth and neutral gray colors, very diluted with solvent.

I think you did a fantastic job. One of my neighbors knows I collect and has a copy of an original Gebirgsjäger training video (Video of them training for propeganda I assume). He's making me a copy as we speak.

Very well done indeed, makes me want to do a few myself. Maybe with the next release.
