#1: How to put on soviet rain capes and German Zeltbahn Author: Frasmet, Posted: Sun Dec 18, 2005 12:07 pm Soviet Rain Cape
The first thing I do is replace the nylon string with cotton string. The nylon is too slick to get a tight enough knot.
If you want the hood down I recommend you tie it first and then put it down, as it it is easier to roll around the neck. If doing that tie around the head without a hat or helmet to get it tighter.
Step two:
The red dashed line shows where I folded the extra material in to tighten the back
Step three:
I wrapped a piece of wire around the waist to hold the zelt tight this prevents the belt from having to hold back the fabric. The red dashed lines show the edges of the zelt where they are hibben by the front piece
Step four:
The fold, crease, pleat, whatever in the back is pushed all the way to the side of the figure and ends up over the left hip, the resulting edge on the fold can be pulled straight down.
Step five:
Arrow indicate where the flaps around opening have been tucked in and collar of blouse has been pulled through.
A better fit can be achieved bey soaking the zelt in hairspray or water and tugging it tighter into position.
