Hey guys
I have my first Market Garden bash in the works, and wanted to know how the heck do you set up his harness for his parachute? It's the Will Bailey figure, and I'm stumped. I have it on, but it doesn't look right. Theres a "band" that hangs just below the butt, theres a weird cloth loop on both sides, and the buckles are funky. On the left side theres a house shaped buckle (a rectangle with a triangle on it) and a oval buckle, and on the right side theres the same oval buckle.

| One thing I noticed incorrect about the tutorial is, that the belly band should go through two straps on the back side of the reserve. Hope this helps. |

Many thanks for this excellent piece of information, as you have answered a question i have often asked myself.
Which is...
"Why does the reserve flap about so much, when the hooks are connected?"
I have updated both the Jeb and Corbin page tutorials, and given full credit for the changes.

Hi,
Another embarrassing question for the forum... 
Would the belly band go the same way with the later Laird chute?
Because i have 7 figures here fully loaded...
And i have forgotten which one has the Laird chute on...

I really don't know what chute Laird has but I would imagine so. I've never jumped a T5 but I have jumped a T7, T10 and MC1-1 and they are all rigged with the belly band through loops on the back of the reserve. I am sure the T5 would have had to be rigged this way also because the two hooks connecting the reserve to the main parachute harnass would not be sufficiently strong to support the weight of the jumper and his equipment. When the reserve is deployed it suspends the jumper from his abdomen, belly up with his body parallel to the deck, without the belly band that's a lot of weight and force placed upon two small hooks. As you said, johkaz, the belly band also keeps the reserve firmly secured, and prevents it from flopping up and down. |

I have some other questions, about the T5(modified) parachute:
1. Does the belly band go over the top of all the other straps?
2. Is the musette bag supposed to be hooked onto the soldiers webbing, or the parachute harness?
3. Did US paratroops really carry knifes on their reserve 'chute like on the DML figures? |

justin_g, can i offer this help?
1. For the life of me, i cannot remember now how i had the belly band, maybe the pictures in my links above might help somehow?
2. With my figures, i extended the musette straps as far as they would go, so that the strap ends would connect to the shoulder webbing on the figure. So it was seperate from the parachute harness, as i have seen several reference sources for this method.
Because on landing the soldier would dump the chutes and then flip the bag onto his back and join his comrades.
A good source of pictures for this is The Band Of Brothers with the Holland jump episode, as one of the soldiers does exactly as i have described. Plus, it finally explained to me why the musette bag hung down in front of the soldier, the wrong way round whilst wearing the parachute.
3. I have attached the knife in this way on i think two of my figures, but now thinking about it. It would be a waste of equipment, because in the heat of landing the soldier would dump the spare chute as fast as he could, and the knife as well...
