I was lucky enough to happen upon ONE at a Walmart here in Southern California (a RARE thing indeed) and picked it up for $67... I got it home and the following photos and observations were made...

Box this is showing the good side, the clear side was pretty torn up...

Image

STRANGE looking crew figures!!! The headsculpts are just not up to what 21st used to do (some of the old ones were pretty cool) and the paint on them left ALLOT to be desired... They appear to depict some sort of "Fallshirmjager" but just don't cut it... Tan riding pants on both with, what looks like, SS Officers belts and an okay holster and sidearm... They come with Tropical helmets and jack boots painted high gloss black... The figures are definately NOT the star of this set...

Image

The Kett is the standard 21st Kett we all know and love (especially once you get your hands on Steve's upgrades)... The rear handrails will need to be removed and placed CORRECTLY (as shown in these photos) onto the vehicle as 21st had them on backwards originally... The trailer is just what you see in this and the following photos... A basic, nice looking piece that will look even better once it has been given a little attention with paint and weathering... The Kett shows "Luft" plates and the Trailer shows "Army" plates on it (something I am sure wasn't uncommon in real time as troopers would scrounge goodies. it is just unusual here with this toy as I would expect uniformity in the item)...

This item also includes a decent plastic "wood" ammo crate that will look good weathered up... The latches work and it does open...

I am sure there will be some LUCKY soul who will happen across some of these on sale eventually but, when one takes into consideration that most original released Ketts go for about the same price as this piece or (usually) higher, it's not a bad deal... I would have grabbed more had I found them but something tells me I was just having a lucky day... It will eventually become another nice part of my collection after I get some work done on it... And for those who have asked for it before, here is the UPC number that was scanned at the register (I watched, no other magical number was entered)... Good luck in your searches!!! :) :) :)

Tracks are black rubber "washed" with (what looks like) dark yellow for weathering...

I love my two Ketts they are some of my favorite 21st vehicles. I wish they had those trailers back then though. From the pics the figures do look pretty lame. LOL I'm sure with some repainting they should look decent. It is nice to see 21st still giving us affordable vehicles I just hope they will come out with some new stuff soon. Mainly because I have all the 21st stuff already made.

I'm really happy 21st is still releasing stuff and in particular the Kett, but those figures go beyond "lame." From what I can see, the helmets look pretty cool, but as stated the sculpts and paint jobs leave much to be desired. The boots look to be very "toy" like and a step backward in my opinion. I always liked the 21st footgear. Has anyone else noticed that the breast eagle is on the wrong side?
I'd rather have the option to pay $47 and not get the two figures.

Brandon

While the figures look sucky, the hands, helmets, pants and jackets look like they might be useable some where else, maybe not togeteher, but you might have a use for the stuff some where...

The belts and holsters will see re-use & the "Pith" helmets are fairly decent and can proabaly go towards some use as well... The other items are just too "toy-like"( for want of a better discription) as the smocks are not up to the level of the DML ones and I did not care for the trousers at all... As for the boots, they look terrible and one guy even has two left foot boots on him... The price is DEFINATELY worth it for the vehicle and trailer but, the figures and uniforms are destined for my Son's toy box once he gets a little older and is ready for the REAL fun toys... Laughing Laughing Laughing
