Calling all Brit experts!!! The web belt that came with the Brit MP Bob Richardson, was missing the buckles at the rear of the belt to attach the webbing straps. I was wondering if it was just on my figure or did everyone who got this figure get the belt without these buckles? Would Brit MP's have worn these belts with buckles at the rear in real life or would it still be accurate to leave them off?
Thanks In Advance

I remember when my father was in the army(post war) he had 2 web belts one for parade and non field wear it had no bucles on the rear and the other belt for the field had rear buckles. Not sure if they has the same setup pre 45. _________________

The belt should have the buckles : the diagonal shoulder strap ( brace ) goes through one at the rear. Removing them was a highly unofficial modification !
If DML have left them off , it's a mistake . |

Thank you very much for the info Tony. So would that mean that the rear buckle arrangement that comes with the belt on the figure, including the adjustment buckles on the rear of the strap itself (see last pic), is redundant and should be replaced with the pair of buckles you mention attatched to the belt itself? Hope you get my weird explanation.

Yes , they've cocked it up : the front fitting is fine
( known as a brace extension , used by soldiers not wearing the pouches ), but the back should have the pair of slightly inward turned buckles that all the '37 pattern belts came with , and the brace itself goes through the left hand one.
The cap badge on this figure is too small and flimsy : I bought one of the hats to see if it was any good , and I wasn't that impressed : and the elastic in the red cover rather compresses the crown , distorting the whole cap.
Otherwise he's one of DML's better recent offerings. |
