Hi everyone
Thanks so much for the nice comments. Very much appreciated.
Took a quick break from work to experiment with some links. It's been a long time since I did the Panthers so it's all new to me again. First gave the stock links a quick coat of dark greay primer(this was what I used on the Panther's spare links and thought it was a good base color. Second, a random mix/wash of Mig pigments thinned with terp. Colors used so far were 'Euro Dust' and 'Dark Mud'. Dried with a hair dryer and given a quick wipe. I think when the track pads are worn to metal, they will look more complete. I'm not a fan of rusty track links and there may be too much of that look in these colors but well see what happens when I do the whole tracks.

The color looks perfect. The link has just the right look to my eyes. After they are assembled on the tank, you can do a little judicious weathering and they will be perfect. _________________ Never Ask Permission. Only Forgiveness |

Hi Dave, send em' over
Sourdoh, Thanks for your input. I tried some using the same color I used on the Panther and think it looks more 'in service'. Tried a black and white comparison of a war-time photo from Normandy just for kicks. The lighter, dried mud/dust seems more correct.
Hi everyone
Well, I was going to experiment with zimmerit coloring yesterday but one thing led to another and I couldn't stop adding pieces(even though I will be replacing and/or reworking some). I just had to see it completely painted in dark yellow. Hatch interiors are primer only at the moment as I'm not sure if I will keep those, or make my own set of earlier version with the pistol port on the rear door. Cupola is a place holder until I start on the new one. Gunner's site and vision port will be redone too but I couldn't leave the part off for this round of pictures. :-\
I can't say it enough how good these kits are and how happy I am with this Panzer IV. Looking forward to schurzen and zimmerit. Here's how it looks as of this morning.
Best to all and happy building!

As much as I'd love to.................... have you felt the weight of the Sherman tracks, I'd be able to build another M7 with the postage costs
Your PIV just keeps getting better and better.

This just keeps getting better and better. The color for the tracks is perfect.
Are you going to add the right front fender support and the four pieces that hold the air inlet covers when they are open.
Here is a picture showing the pieces for the air inlet covers (there are only 3 here 1 is missing)
Here are the ones I made for mine

Hi Dave, like you need me to do them anyways.
Hi Hammer, sorry, it will be a 5th or 6th company 12SS panzer in Normandy so shurzen will be on(atleast some of them).
Hi Mike, Thanks. Yes I am adding those locking tabs for the intake covers.
Also adding the fender brackets and the air filters and the jack block holder. My lack of patience got the best of me yesterday. some things to add to the front fenders as well befor zimmerit.
Best regards
