Thanks for the information, I really like the way a straight stock 1903 looks. To bad that those Cotswold 1903's need a fair ammount of work before they look presentable. At least they are available and reasonably priced. BTW: How common were pistol grip stocked 1903's at Guadalcanal and in the Phillipines during 1941-42

Phillipine units were issued the M1917 Enfield, USA carried the 03 in limited numbers, MacArthur tried to get the Garand but was told that he could not have them as they were in short supply with Reg USA units. The 4th Marines would have had 03's. As for the Stock, they are no offical records on what was issued, as stocks were broken they were replaced with whatever was in the armory. Most USMC Units would "barrow" from the USA units in the area for supplies.
