Hi,
I have had an idea for a kitbash, and i wondering if the poses are possible or looks realistic?
As i am trying to get a look of, is that the German has been blocked and the US para is rolling to the right.
The Kurt head has to changed to the screaming one for a start.
The figure on the ground has still to be dressed as a US para.
With modifications planned for the body, so the raised leg can come back further.
And this all has to be mounted on a base.
But i am wondering if the pose with the rifle being blocked looks ok?
Opinions please?
Picture edited....

That's not the textbook way to block or thrust, but it certainly could be realistic. Real fights like this don't happen with Hollywood scripted finesse.
I think that the German soldier needs to have more of his upper body moving forward. Then, it will look natural. Right now, he is standing too straight to look like he meant to kill the nude figure. His pose suggests that he is more interested in poking him to see if he's awake.
The pose of the nude figure is, overall, pretty good.
Looking forward to seeing the finished project. _________________ Green side out! Brown side out! Run in circles, scream and shout! |

Hi,
Many thanks for the reply.
I had an answer on another forum to my question above.
So to sort of explain my kitbash a bit better i have posted the answer i gave here as well.
I was thinking of the right leg on the ground and the US figure rolling to the right.
Is that he would be using the momentum of the German coming forward with all his weight.
The US guy would continue to roll right, using the german's weight to unbalance him.
And then bring up the left leg, to push him further away.
Hence my having to do the body modifications to the US guy, so the boot would be more in contact with the German's midriff.
This picture shows the German leaning over more.
And i am trying to get the sort of frozen in time sort of pose, where the US guy is just about to push back with the leg
If that sounds right?

Hi,
Does anyone know of any websites that show bayonet drill and defence?

| Apart from the posing suggestions above, I think you must make up your mind about the AB guy. The rigger-modified M42 was pretty rare in 82d AB, IIRC, and it is less likely that it was worn with M43 boots, as those were issued for Operation Market Garden, whereas the M42 was mostly seen in Normandy. If the W-SS soldier is intended to be from the 9th or 10th SS Panzer Divisions, it's during Operation Market Garden, making an M43 uniform a more natural choice (and a better match to those boots). |

Hi,
As a result of using the information from justin_g above.
I have posted on the OSS, about my poses for the figures for my kitbash.
Mainly because i got a reply from an unarmed comabt instructor.
http://www.onesixscale.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13925&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
I hope you don't mind me cross linking?
But i think it is easier to do this, so that everyone knows what i am talking about.
As since starting this kitbash, i have become slightly confused regarding bayonet defence.
This is my latest pose that i am thinking of using:

Gary,
Looks much better, now. I think you've got the idea.
Don't get too wrapped around the axle on bayonet drill. It is not made up of decades of study at a Shao Linh monastery. You get trained in some basic thrusts, slashes, and parries, and that's it. After that, it's hookin' & jabbin' in whatever way seems natural to those involved. Western militaries of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries have placed far more emphasis on killing your oponent before he get's that close to you. Pretty much every NATO military has unarmed combat instructors, and they are very competent, but that competency doesn't often translate fully into the rank and file. _________________ Green side out!
