• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Good color for US leather holsters?

There is a shoe repair shop nearby, was able to pick up a bottle of Fiebings leather dye there - I chose "Cordovan" which of course is a color familiar to WW2 collectors, reddish brown. It is easy to use and I have even been able to touch up a few shoes. By the way, Sgt. Doggy remains my...

Question, about the color of US army's wool service trousers

The last picture is a good representation of the real thing on my screen!!! The early "chocolate mix" DML trousers are not the best choice , later ones are better if lighter. The absolute best match I ever saw (caveat I have not bought abything in a year or more) was the old 21st Century toys...

Am i the only one guilty of this?

Guilty. I have my own projects, some of which take years, then I have everything in the house that needs to be repaired, from electronics to jewelery clasps, and like most once one hobby slows down another speeds up - rewinding guitar pickups, lacquer finishing... Probably one of the reasons...

Close Shave - US Personal Gear

More apologies, even more OLD projects!!! Made this lot for a SAG contest. I remember this photo, rainy day, mushy backyard, concrete paver background - Brass razor ( looking back, looks like a ROUGH shave LOL), handtowel, shaving brush, a pocket mirror of polished metal, and a "Molle"...

US Cartridge Belt - the Quest.

In the late 90's I really got into US gear, starting with 1/6th then expanding to 1/1 and making 1/6th versions. An interesting ride. Very early I did cartidge belts - Making my own buckles and parts, mostly using cloth. I finally achieved what I wanted by making one entirely out of webbing...
