• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    My American Armor.

Hey Billy! Great job with the tanks. Glad to know my Sherman went to a good home and I'll get to enjoy it in your excellent dioramas in the future. Also glad you gave it an appropriate name. The name "David" was a reference to "David and Goliath" since I used this tank in a sci-fi film where...

USMC Flamethrower Operator - Tarawa Island, 1943

My first Marine! I liked the look of the P42 camouflage uniform, so I chose to depict a U.S. Marine during the Battle of Tarawa Island, where that uniform was supposedly first issued. Some of you might recognize that I re-appropriated the M1A1 flamthrower from another figure I did a while...

    WWI Doughboy, Meuse-Argonne Offensive 1918

Yeah, it's just the camera angle. The shoes are actually identical, so it'd be impossible to put them on the wrong feet.

"Go For Broke!" 442nd RCT Nisei Soldier

My latest figure depicts a Japanese-American soldier of the U.S. 442nd Regimental Combat team. This is how he would have looked in October of 1944, before storming the Vosges Mountains on the infamous mission to rescue the Texas "Lost Battalion." This figure has particular significance to me...

    WWI Doughboy, Meuse-Argonne Offensive 1918

I took a few work-in-progress photos, but not a lot (I get lazy when it comes to that sort of thing). But I do appreciate it when others show how they did things, so if people like that sort of thing, I will take more photos in the future. The trench knife: The gas mask tube: The stand:

    WWI Doughboy, Meuse-Argonne Offensive 1918

I just got a new light box to take photos of my figures and I was anxious to test it out on my latest figure. This is a WWI AEF "Doughboy" (K Company, 28th Regiment, 1st Infantry Division), during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, 1918. The uniform is a sideshow toys tunic, highly altered (I...

Captain Miller from "Saving Private Ryan"

Thanks a bunch! I took a little break from 1/6 models for a few months, but now I'm back into it. I was kind of burned-out after that little short film I did. However, in the process of making that, I collected tons of stuff and saved all the "prime" parts for a few special figures that I...

Captain Miller from "Saving Private Ryan"

Thanks! Actually, I should make a correction. The original DID headsculpt doesn't look cross-eyed. It looked more like the eyes were looking outward in opposite directions. Not sure what you would call that.

Captain Miller from "Saving Private Ryan"

Here's my take on Captain Miller. I was super anal-retentive with this one. Here's a general breakdown so you can see what I mean. The helmet alone is a combo of 4 different makers: HELMET: Soldier Story helmet and liner, with the bails repositioned, and custom cork texture and hand painted...

airborne bazooka help on my WIP pfc matt barkley....

That famous photo of the 101st AB trooper with the bazooka in his leg bag is of a fellow named Dick Knudsen. That was the Normandy jump and he actually broke his pelvis because he wasn't able to release the bag in time before he hit the ground. He laid there for days before being evacuated.
