• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Fury Sherman Tank extra 30 cal machine gun

Rolling Thunder Tech

Company Commander
Besides in the Fury movie, has anyone seen any images of an M4 Sherman tank with a turret mounted 30 cal machine gun mount for the Commander in addition to the typical 50 cal M2 machine gun mount?

I looked for period photos, and did not find any 2 turret mounted mg's. I was surprised to find many did not have any mg's mounted. In the Cologne panther video, the sherman that gets knocked out did not have turret mount mg. Found it interesting looking it up.

Thanks for looking. In poor weather, the 50 cal was sometimes removed, wrapped in canvas and mounted on a stowage unit at the rear of the turret. The top turret pintle mount was hinged and could be moved to the horizontal position. Have never understood the reason for having it hinged.

With only having the Fury movie as a source for two turret machine guns, am not convinced that it was actually used in the field, although having the second 30 cal machine gun for the commander does look awesome.

It was based on a mod Creighton Abrams did to his tank Thunderbolt VII

Here’s a photo for reference.
