• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Gebirgsjager 2cm leichte Flak guns

My questions have to do with the 2cm light anti-aircraft guns used by Gebirgsjagers, both Heer and Waffen-SS.

Some Heer Gebirgsjagers, especially at the beginning of the war, seem to operate with attached Luftwaffe Flak units (as with many Heer formations). But Heer Gebirgs-Divisions were also apparently authorized around a dozen light Flak guns apiece. What unit within a Heer Gebirgs-Division did the leichte Flak guns belong to, and how were they organized? From what I've seen on divisional organization charts, most Heer Gebirgs-Divisions did not contain separate Flak units, so would these be a part of the divisional or regimental HQ? Or perhaps the Gebirgs-Artillerie regiment instead?

And I know that a special Gebirgsflak 38 was designed and produced by Mauser as a lighter version that could be more easily broken down and transported over rough terrain. Were enough of these produced throughout the war to meet demand, or did the standard 2cm Flak 38s or Flakvierling 38s fill in at times?

The Waffen-SS Gebirgs-Divisions seem to have organic Flak Abteilungs (i.e. Prinz Eugen's SS-Flak-Abteilung 7 or Handschar's Waffen-Flak-Abteilung der SS 13), but I cannot seem to find a TO&E for one. What leichte Flak guns were these units generally equipped with?

And just for S**ts and Giggles, feel free to post some pics of Gebirgsjager Flak guns or Flak crews, if you've got them! I'll start us off...

I was able to locate an answer to this question, but it wasn't what I was expecting...

It seems as though the light Flak guns were assigned to the Panzerjager Abteilung, of all places. The first three companies of the Panzerjager batallion were equipped with Paks, while the fourth company was known as a Gebirgs-Flak-Kompanie, and was equipped with twelve 2cm light Flak guns.

So members of the Gebirgs-Flak-Kompanie would apparently be sporting Panzerjager pink waffenfarbe!
