Hello all,
Firstly, I hope all had a grand festive season with no too much of a difficult New Year's break-in.
I spent a weekend or two packing away the 'D-Day Spearhead' series whilst, at the same time, corralling all the various odds and sods that I'll be requiring for Project "Devildog" which will essentially be another multi-diorama series dedicated to the U.S. Marine Corps and its fight against the Japanese in the Pacific Theatre during World War Two. I've been keen to get onto this one for 2-3 years now, putting everything I've obtained during that period away in order to concentrate on the FJR series (which will go in 2026) and last year's D-Day builds.
I could not help myself though by starting a little earlier in order to get a good lead noting I normally start the annual themes in March. Firstly the 'Facepool' out of the box 'Sledge Hammer' atop the two hardbacks upon which the Spielberg/Hanks series 'The Pacific' was based off. Next, G.I. Joe's 40mm Bofors mount repainted and crewed with the aim to have one vignette cover the importance of NGS to the Marine' amphib assaults. One of the opening scenes will go into the period recruit training, in this instance depicted by two piece-together figures featuring a "Boot" awaiting the signal to go from his DI to bayonet a target (probably the two most difficult figures of this series in terms of finding bits to outfit correctly). From the difficult to the most easy - a Bulldog with field hat to illustrate 'Chesty' - the Corps' mascot.
