• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

SdKfz 250 as Prime Mover?

I’ve checked my general reference material, but I’m not finding the answer I’m looking for.

I know that it was used to transport the Halb-Gruppe, but was the SdKfz 250 ever used as a prime mover for towed light AT guns, specifically the PaK36?

I know that ”anything can happen,” but an actual reference source would really help to clarify this for me – thanks!

i would say as a normal thing , NO , they would have used a demag for towing guns , both anti tank and field guns , so i dont think they would waste an armored vehicle to tow a gun , was it done ?? yes it was when the prime mover was destroyed ,broke down or otherwise was unavailable .
remember most guns were set up under non combat conditions , or at least that was the theory , they would set up the gun (anti tank) in a spot that was likly to see a target ,when there was no real combat activity, and the prime mover was driven away to a safe distance , at least this is what ive read from accounts on the Russian front , many time's trucks were used . i hope this helps . they did use variations of the 250 as armored ammo carriers for the 5cm gun , also remeber it was a 1 ton chassis , thats not much bigger then your avarage pickup truck , they just gave it tracks for better cross country movement . i think an Ford F-350 could of pulled more weight on level street .

A 1/2 tracks towing capasity was already hampered by the armor it carried so generally they were not used to tow things. As steve said there were always exceptions to the rule but the 250 was a small vehicle and primarily used as a recon vehicle and needed to be unencombered
pardon my spelling
