• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Vicker's MkVI light tank

battlefields

Rifleman
One day I stumbled onto a modeller's forum (britmodeller.com) and saw a beautifully built Vicker's mk6 light tank painted in the caunter camouflage pattern. Before then I did not know this tank existed. From what I can gather, this tank was used in the North African theatre around 1940.

Seeing this beautifully done model of the Vicker's tank inspired me to make a 1/6th scale version of it.

Fortunately there are easily accessible schematic drawings of the tank which allowed me to create 1/6th scale plans.

The Tank:

I made masters of the running wheels and track links so that I could make duplicates with urethane resin. The hinges for the commander's hatch are not accurate as I could not find a good picture so I use what I had as a substitute. Most of the tank was built with 1/8th inch polystyrene. PVC piping was used for the exhaust and search lights. The lenses for the lights were made with clear epoxy. I used standard house latex paint (8oz paint samples from Home Depot) and auto-spray paint for the tracks. High-lighting and detailing was done with acrylics.

The men:

I used the first generation DML bodies but thinned out and one with legs shortened. The heads and uniforms were custom made including the real leather jerkin and suede chakka boots.

Wow! That is super sweet! I always loved what you do with your figures and unis. You get them to look so natural. And of course the tank is amazing!

Thank you for sharing.
