• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Machine Gun Mount

Machine Gunner
I need some info on the machine gun mount that came with Ultimate Soldier's Command Jeep (It came with two figures, one being Patton). What type of machine gun did it support? .30 or .50 cal? :S I need the dimensions for the mount that came with the jeep, so I can fabricate one. Pictures would be a great help. :D

That Jeep came with a ,50cal. The post was the same for the .30 and the .50 in the real WW2 Jeeps. The cradle holding the gun was different. Many pictures are around of the 1917 cradle designed for the water cooled .30, which would also fit the air cooled .30. Then a lighter cradle for a .30 air cooled only and then a bigger one with ammo can tray for the .50.

There were more than a dozen cradles for everything, mostly ending the war with a combination cradle that would hold either the .30 or .50.

The only exception was the monster water cooled .50. It was so heavy it wasn't mounted on a Jeep and the post was a heavy solid steel triangle shaped affair suitable for mounting in ground or shipboard AA positions or on a big truck.

MV magazine has a few articles with pictures of all these mounts in the past few years, reprints of the old Army manuals. The pictures do not have dimensions. You'd do better looking for a MVPA show near you and take your own dimensions. MV 1/1 guys, like me, have had guys ask me to let them crawl over my precious trucks for detail pictures. We're used to it.
