2 cm KwK 30 L/55

Looking for some detailed pic's and info on the 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 (2 cm Kampfwagenkanone 30 L/55) used in the Panzer II, have spent a quite a bit on books over 8 including Panzer Tracts 2-1 and Achtung Panzer No.7, but not much in regards to detailed pictures of the cannon and mount, thus far these are the best I've found online, and they are pretty limited and only show the right side....

Working on my DML PzII and any help in finding more and better pictures pictures would be much appreciated

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

Turret was a one man operation lol Three man crew all together, each had their own hatch to get in and out, driver had the tightest quarters, radio operator and commander/gunner had a lil more breathing room lol

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

Another pic for the collection, question is, other than the magazine size, was there much difference between the KwK30 used in the PzII and the one used in the SdKfz.222?

The PzII has the spent brass catcher like the SdKfz.222, much of it looks very similar

Jeez, if that compartment was compact I hate to see what the driver compartment had. I know the Radio Operator was towards the back but it couldn't have been bigger then the driver's area.

They are the same gun with a shorter barrel then their flak counterparts.

Both PzII and Sd.Kfz.222 used the same gun but utilised several different gun barrels the picture of the Sd.Kfz.222 is an export version for the Chinese this differed from the German version so this picture should be ignored, both PzII and used the shorter 10 round magazine as opposed to the larger 20 round magazine utilised with the flak 38, 10 round magazines are available

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

Thanks for the tips, where can I find 10 round mags? Also...
"the picture of the Sd.Kfz.222 is an export version for the Chinese this differed from the German version so this picture should be ignored"

You are correct about it being an export, but isn't that clearly a KwK30 and not the Flak38? The picture is what inspired my question as I had thought the SdKfz222 used the Flak38 and I stumbled along this picture trying to find detailed pictures of the KwK30 for my PzII's KwK

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

KWK30 and Flak38 are one of the same gun the KWK was used in armoured vehicles and the Flak was an anti aircraft weapon its just the titles, notice also that the Chinese 222 uses a 20 round magazine as opposed to the 10 round magazine normally seen in these armoured vehicles.

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

Appreciate the info, didn't realize they were the exact same gun sans the barrels and mag options, will make it easier to find details on the actual gun itself, charging handle details, etc etc, now I can expand my search for photos to reference

Any photo's to share?

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

charging handle can be on the right side very much like a rifle also seen in your PzII pictures, the charging handle on the kwk for 222 was a T piece at the rear of the weapon similar to an M16, this is also seen on the Flak38.

Re: 2 cm KwK 30 L/55

The Flak 30 and the Flak 38 are not the same gun. The Flak 38 had a much higher rate of fire. Both were used in armored vehicles and both were Flak guns. The KWK 30 used earlier then swapped out for the better KWK 38 in later vehicles. Both used the same mags be it 10 or 20 rounders and same ammo. Both the 30 and 38 when used on vehicles had a shorter barrels.
