M113 Oldie but Goodie

While cleaning out the basement I uncovered this Jason Grey classic in all its glory......I even found the cancelled check for the smoke and mirrors I paid for.

...with thumbtacks and binder clips thrown in. Yes this is the same puppy. That metal protruding from the cupola is half of a large binder clip. This was back in the days when custom vehicle design originated from the last frontier.

Back then he was the shit. I think his downfall was getting way in over his head.

Re: M113 Oldie but Goodie

Looks like it was hit with an RPG. Always liked the M113, especially with all the kit that hung from every protrusion.

For the 11th anniversary of your purchase of it, will you start the construction? Hmm... $325 back in 2003. Wonder how much that is in todays' exchange rate?

It's really nice to see that others have projects sitting around for the last decade, like I do, and are still not finished.

Love it! All it needs is a little TLC!

Re: M113 Oldie but Goodie

I still have 2 of OSB 's Jason kits, the flak 38 and the Horch. The flak 38 is not usable but the horch has promise. Still in kit form. The good ole days..

Those are actually your panzer iv links Steve that Jason used for his M113. I will be passing this off to Charles as he is tentatively scheduled to stop by my house this weekend.

I will be there, Ed. Looking forward to seeing you and hauling away some of your very nice collection.
I actually thought the basic structure didn't look too bad on this vehicle. The problem was the nature of OSB Locusts products made them both fragile and difficult to repair. And in the case of your M113 specifically I think when you got his prototype he'd already given up on the project and you ended up with a very poorly done final parts assembly. Just didn't put the effort in on fabrication he should have. I think Steve, David and Wayne all have plans for M113 parts now. So who knows what the future holds.......
It is too bad Jason got in too deep. The Maultiers that Steve got in trade came assembled and were pretty darned nice after Steve painted them. Only real problem was the cab was actually asymmetrical making the final fit difficult. Mine had a broken A-Pillar that really couldn't be easily repaired and needed to be partly disassembled. I half-assed it and it looked okay, mostly because of Steve's cammo making a great distraction. Sold mine years ago believing an improved version was coming. Well, now you can get good running gear for it from panzerwerk.
