Weathered 5cm German mortar ammo cases

Or the 5cm Leicht Grenatenwerfer W36, as they called it ...

These are the dragon ammo cases, repainted dunkelgelb and weathered. I did these a decade ago. The decals were from Michigan Dawg. I initially assumed a grey metallic primer would have been used under the paint, but I have since learned that many, but not all, used the red-brown primer of the panzers.

I haven't yet given them a dusting and a rusting, but still, they came out rather nicely.

While the 5cm mortar was falling out of favor with regular infantry units by 1944, many were still utilized by fallschirmjagers and gebirgsjagers, because of their much lighter weight, in addition to their heavier 8cm mortars.

Re: Weathered 5cm German mortar ammo cases

Since the above pics were taken, I repainted the buttons on all my gebirgsjagers. Black was wrong. (Bad Dragon!)
