Sherman Breech work

I still haven't been able to come up with any blue prints, but have closely studied all the pictures I could, and prepared a STL file on FreeCAD. Today I got a chance to print the breech with charging handle and dry fit it to my gun...

Seems a bit too tall; but the only option I had for dimensions was a 1/35th model. Going back to the photos for further study.

Re: Sherman Breech work

I'm unsure if these pictures will come through since I no longer deal with Photobucket.

Re: Sherman Breech work

Thanks for the pictures Redball! I see you have followed the Sherman restoration at the Museum of the Amercan GI as well! I resized the print elements based on a still I took from the MAG Sherman restoration...

And ended up with a much better looking representation

I didn't realize until after I had taken the pictures, but I placed the mounting for the breech safety shield on upside down.

And this version included a sliding breech block so it can be staged "loaded" or ready to be loaded.

Re: Sherman Breech work

Yes, I check out every lead I can for information like most here I suspect. Without actual drawings, I find the more pictures I can study better lets me get the correct perspective.
I really like your new breach block it seems much more realistic.
Though you may also have access to these they are also useful.

Keep up the good work you will have a unique model when done.
