James DeSimone's Hetzer

Does anyone know if James DeSimone's Hetzer is playable to work with. I saw amorpax's hetzer and want to produce a Hetzer the same way. Is it possible to cut into the plastic and make new hatches without ruining it?

i tried to cut one , and gave up gave the hull away , i can to the conclusion it was easier to scratchbuild the hetzer hull,s simple lines , then work with the blow molded/roto casted plastic , but this is just my opinion , ive seen some fantastic Desimone hetzer jobs done .

It is possible and has been done.

Check out my webpage on JD's Hetzer I have pics from 17 different people who have done various modifications and several have detailed photos and descriptions on how they did it.

Yes, thanks kanowarrior, my Hetzer's been sitting on the shelf awaiting upgrades to. Good link to get some ideas for improvement. Doesn't Steve or Tim offer a road wheel upgrade for the Hetzer?, or am I thinking of someone else?

Mark.

I have an abandoned Hetzer gathering dust in my basement that will someday become something.
But whatever it becomes, it will surely be wearing Panzerwerks running gear and tracks.

I got the Hetzer years ago and I cut the hatches out with out too much trouble and only gashed myself twice. LOL On Tim Kanos site there are some great builds and that's what made me buy it. I was going to sell it or trade it but I just can't give it up yet I thought of useing it to cut a new hull and using the running gear and use the old hull for a bombed out hulk. I think someone actually made one R/C. No mattrer how good or bad a kit is if your willing to put the time and work into it it can be a show peice.

The Toysurgeon was, but I wouldn't be surprised if Steve has them as well. I know there are upgrade kits out there and would gladly show links on my website if anyone makes them available to me.

Let me rephrase that........

This it the Panzerwerks 38T/Hetzer/Marder running gear that my Marder M is currently sitting on and that some day (God and Panzerwerks willing) the Hetzer in my basement will also be riding on.
This is some pretty nice stuff (in my biased oppinion)

I haven't had any problems cutting up my Hetzer and T-34 using my dremel. The plastic is thick so I recommend using the dremel. I would usually do a "scoring" run to start a groove to follow through afterwards. Patience and a steady hand with the RMP's of your dremel at the right speed (fast enough so the cutting blade doesn't slow down too much).

That is looking good JP...

Steve "Panzerwerk's" running gear is GREAT looking stuff... Injection molded tracks by him are also in the works (or so I've heard) to top off an excellent set... Looks like there are gonna be allot "purdy" Hetzers and Marders out there soon...

The DS Hetzer is probably the best "beginner's" tank on
the market. With virtually no work you can have a nice
inexpensive panzer. All mediums used in making the
different types of 1/6th vehicles such as stryene, resin,
fiberglass, rotomold plastic, or wood require a different
type of technique in building or altering them. You can't
really use one techinque on another medium, they are
just too different. Patience and imagination are the key
in doing any vehicle project. Just see what you want in
your minds eye and go for it!

Try THIS LINK for his eBay store... Looks like he has a Hetzer listed for his usual price and I am sure you can message him from there as well if needed...

Tigercrueman I answered your pm.

For everyone else, rest assured James is still around and taking orders. If there is a real problem contacting him you can always email me and I can call him directly.
