• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    Dragon M4A3 build, help needed.

I was curious about that, but I figured that was down the road. Have you built the kit? If so, what did you do about the tracks? Any one mod them in some manner to make them work or is replacement the only option? Thank you for the info.

    Dragon M4A3 build, help needed.

I'm building the Dragon M4A3 75mm and upon surveying the kit, one of the most glaring issues is a lack of cast texture. Does anyone have a technique for adding a good scale representation of this?

    Hobby Can't be Dead

I'm glad I stopped by because I have a unique perspective to answer the question. The 1/6th hobby is not dead but it's likely on life support. I got my original action figures for Christmas in 1965, I had just turned eight. My Dad was a Marine Corps Officer, so I only got Action Marines, but I...

    One last post

I too am sorry to see it go. A lot of immense modelling and artistic knowledge has been shared here. A lot of pleasant discussions. Been a member here for 16 years. Goodbye old friends!

    Sixth Army Group maintenance fund

I went out to your maintenance fund site today, to make a small donation...WOW. Some impressive donations, and just as impressive is the number of people that care enough about this board that they're willing to chip in monetarily. It should warm the heart of those running the board to see that...

SAG 14th Anniversary - and announcement

Re: SAG 14th Anniversary Guess I lied. Joined the Facebook group last night because my son (SgtPriceUSMC on this board, and I didn't realize he was a member here until the last couple months), sent me a screen shot of a photo shoot from ya'lls Facebook page. I like the idea of the fundraiser...

SAG 14th Anniversary - and announcement

Re: SAG 14th Anniversary Wow, that sucks. I guess it is what it is. Not interested in going back to Facebook, I have an account but stepped away from it a while back. Too much drama and click-bait. I enjoyed my time here. So I guess it's goodbye.

Reworking old GI Joe jeep trailer

Has anyone reworked the old GI Joe Five Star jeep trailer? I was wondering how it scaled out. Can it be reworked into a decent model without totally rebuilding it? I have three of them and while the jeep isn't worth reworking but trailer doesn't look too bad. All opinions are appreciated.

    US boxes and crates

Now I've thought about the photo etched brass stencils as well. I've read up on making them and it doesn't appear too hard. I like the rubber stamp idea as well, where would you go about getting these made? I can do decals I have all the stuff, but worry that the clear film will be obvious over...

    US boxes and crates

Thank you for the excellent information Redball!!! Now for another question; obviously the original 1/1 crates were stenciled, how do you guys letter your 1/6 crates? Decals? A brass stencil? Hand letter/paint?

    US boxes and crates

You're welcome! Hopefully I'll get some feedback as to their accuracy. I suspect it's good but, I always double check.

    US boxes and crates

OK, I think I found a good reference site, they're repro crates but give multiple views and list the 1/1 dimensions. I'm posting the link for anyone that may be undertaking a similar project, and so I can get the "experts" to look at them and advise me of any glaring errors. Thanks in advance...

    US boxes and crates

Pangaloss, I still pop in to check things out from time to time and have posted occasionally, but not like when I was really into the hobby. I did enjoy it and since I'm getting back in, becoming more active here seemed like a good first step. Glad to see you're still around and kickin'.:!:

    US boxes and crates

My son is interested in doing another big "Joe War" like the one we did here. (only bigger, and we'll Shanghai the other one into helping) http://www.sixtharmygroup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12332&highlight=Pacific+assault We're in the prep stage and one thing we need is ammo crates, grenade...

    plausibility check

The mortar rounds came in and were transported in cardboard tubes. Make you a few of these, which is quite simple to increase your ammo loadout.
