• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Changing figure heights the easy way

Here's a couple of techniques I use to get height variations in my figures without a lot of cutting and gluing.

1. Take out the little flesh-coloured inserts in DML boots. It's a small difference, but noticeable.

2. Use NLM boots. The soles are thicker, adding height.

3. DML's skinned leg figures are much taller. They were meant to be wearing shorts, but there's no reason you can't dress them in regular uniforms.

4. Use a DiD head on a DML body. The neck is longer, adding height.

5. Mix and match using the shorter body from DML's Sepp Jung. Below, I have a standard DML body on the left, and the shorter Sepp Jung body on the far right. In the middle are combinations of the standard DML torso with short legs, and normal legs with short torso.

If you're looking for shorter figures for IJA bashes, you should definitely pick up some Sepp Jung nudes.

Great tips. Height variation makes a big difference when you're putting together whole squads. You might post a quick "how to" on the leg and torse swapping, though.

And keep in mind that the majority of the figures from the short-lived Orange Box/"Value +" line of figures use a bigger version of the Neo nude. (I believe it is the same "muscle Neo" that came with the football player figures and the various Otto Skorzeny figures previously).

So between the Sepp Jung/Fritz Weber smaller nude, standard DML nude, slight taller skinned-legs nude, and even bigger Value + nude, you've got at least four different choices for figure height. You can create even more variations by swapping body parts, or using bodies from other manufacturers.
