• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Battalion Commander
Just need to know if the DAK Gebirgsjager wore the tall desert boots or the standard Gebirgsjager mountain boot.
Please let me know,
GJ

I don't know how accurrate it is, but I'm just putting BBi's 'Rudi Kessling' DAK Gbgsjgr together from out of the box and he has climbing boots and knee-high puttees on.

Thanks guys.
pzrwest, two mountain troop units were with the DAK. 2nd Kompanie Sonderverband 288 and Gebirgsjäger Regiment 756.
ActionMan,Are BBI figs any better researched than DML or DID? I do not collect them so I do not know.
For all thier faults,I only do DML.

I'm sorry, I really can't tell you. This is only my second DAK, the first was put together from loose parts. I honestly don't know enough about the DAK to be able to say which is better. The quality of the parts seems better than overall DML quality though.

Grüß Di' Wüstegebirgsjägers,

The two Gebirgsjäger units mentioned above, tended to wear the standard leather mountain boot...though some photos also show both types of tropical boots being worn occasionally.

The 2nd. Gebirgsjäger Kompanie/Sonderverband 288 wore Luftwaffe Tropical Pants with the thigh pocket and the Army Tropical Tunic.

Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 756 wore the Army Tropical Breeches with mountain boots and knee length Wickelgamaschen (puttees) and the Army Tropical Tunic.

Both units wore the Tropical field cap with metal Edelweiss and the sleeve Edelweiss on dark greeen background.
