• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

DORA - The Gun

Peter Shaw

Rifleman
Dora has now been transported to the National Railway Museum of Holland for an Exhibition starting on Friday about the Railways of Europe at War.
A 30 man guncrew is displayed on the model to give visitors an idea of the size of the gun. Unfortunately I do not have enough figures to provide a full crew of hundreds!!
Let's hope that it will provoke some interest in our hobby.

Peter,

Your DORA build is an amazing feet. I show this particular build to many outside the hobby to give them some idea of scale. Just a superb job. You skill as a engineer and hobbist clear comes through.

I am glad to see that many others will get a chance to see this truly remarkable creation.

Hi,

Having seen the gun in the 'flesh', that must have been a mammoth task to get Dora moved to Holland.
And i hope that it can be used to promote the hobby to a larger audience.

It is nice to see this magnificent miniature get the recognition it so richly deserves. I hope Peter got a display credit for the build.

This has to be the most incredibly piece ever made in 1/6 and for you to be able to share and display it for others to appreciate and admire is an amazing opportunity.
Also thank you for the great pics.

they told me that the barrel was slowly bending a little in the time he/she stood in the museum......
