SS-Division “Reich”
SS-Panzerjäger-Abteilung “Reich”
Army Group Center
XXXXVI Corp
Army Panzergruppe
Battle of Jelnja (Yalnya), Near Smolensk
August 1941
The crew of this Pak 3.7cm of the panzerjager detachment of the SS-Division “Reich” is engaged, with the rest of the division, in heavy fighting during the battles east of Smolensk in August of 1941. The division was attached to Army Group Center in the Eastern Front, where it was very effective and fought with great distinction in the Battle of Yalnya. The crew is set up in a defensive position behind a tree line, in anticipation of a Soviet counterattack. In the distance a T34/41 is advancing, unaware of the German troops on their right flank. In an instant this T34 will be destroyed. Once their position is revealed they will be under heavy attack!
Gun(Pak 3.7cm) from Pegasus Hobbies. All equipment is from Dragon. Belts from RioRondo with old DML belt buckles repainted. Gas mask’s cannister belt is also Rio Rondo leather lace. Ammo boxes and loose rounds came with the Pegasus Hobbies Pak37mm gun. All figures have early pattern smocks and helmet covers in appropiate camo paterns for the period. Image of actual crew and gun is from page 140, of Munin Verlag’s “Das Reich Im Bild”.
