• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

? for the experts: US Armored Insignia

Platoon Leader
What collar insignia would an armored officer, say a lieutenant in command of a tank, have used? For example, an infantry officer would have had the crossed rifles.

Perfect! That's just what I was looking for. NOW...does anybody make it in 1:6?

There is a site which I don't have at my fingertips right now. Capt Cav knows the site as we found it at the same time while searching for officers cavalry insignia. By the way , your tank commanding officer could wear the cavalry cross sabres if he's in a Cav unit. Anyway shout out to Capt Cav and see if he remembers the site.

My tankers are attached to the 28th ID, the 707th Tank Battalion. I believe Company D was a light tank company, with Stuarts. So, could I use the infantry insignia?

Short answer..no.

Your guys are still tankers , and would wear their Branch insignia , realistically, only the ossifers would be wearing them in the field. Enlisted smhucks would only wear their branch insignia officially when in the variations of the Class A uniform.

Don't know if it would have happened back then, but I have known quite a few of us modern enlisted , at least in the Cav , would wear the Crossed Sabers somewhere on our uniform, usually under a pocket flap or cloth subdued insignia sewn onto our Patrol or Boonie caps. Simply a esprit des corps thing.
