• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Normandy Tank Museum Auction

Amazing collection of "combat ready vehicles", I'd love to have that M3A1 Scout Car, the M-24 Chaffee and the Pacific, wow. But my garage is full today. ;)

WOW!

Some amazing stuff there. It's a shame that they are closing the museum. So much history lost.

Would love to have the M3A1 Stuart... But really, it's all beautiful!

Fred

My home is filled with 1:6 versions of this stuff. Forget about room for the 1:1 stuff!

Wrap it up! I'll take it all. I wish. A bit sad to watch so many collections being sold off.

Well, it's a lot better than it being scrapped for metal. At least they will owned by people or museums that want to take care of them.

I agree that it is better than being scrapped. Just sad to see the "collection" split up and scattered.

Too bad someone like Tom Hanks or Steven Spielberg doesn't just but the collection out right, bring it to the states and open a museum here.
The whole museum is well laid out and would be awful to break it apart.

So sad to see collections broken up and sold off, still one would have to have very deep pockets to buy the collection out-right

Sent it off to the director of the Danbury CT tank museum. Don't think they have the budget for any of this, though....

130,000 Euros not bad for a full size 88MM.

Now where is my piggy bank at.

Think if I sell the house wife would get upset?:amer_ohwell:

But honey got an 88 plus.

Jeff

Back when my KM Koastal Marine re-enacting unit had the use of an 88 till the owner died and ended our using the gun. His wife put the gun up for sale at $35,000 bucks was just to high for the unit to come up with the cash, and it wound up being sold to a guy from either Alabama, or Georgia. The unit offered to crew the gun for displays but he refused and it no longer sees the light of day
