• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Sergeant Hans Schultz/ Col. Klink questions

thetoysurgeon

Battalion Commander
I know its hollywood but I did some research on the characters and I need some questions anwsered. Please!!!

The background on both Schultz and Klink is that they were both veterans of WWI in the german airforce. Klink, a career officer, was a pilot, but almost last in his class. Schultz was called back into duty from private life( CEO of the Schatzi Toy Co.). I assume many of the camps were run by second line troops. Both Schultz and Klink wear yellow waffenfarbe but command a Stalag Luft. I assume they were flying personel or did their WWI flying experience dictate their uniform? Stalag Luft camps only housed captured allied airmen and were run by the Luftwaffe. Would you see different personnel from different luftwaffe braches working in or commanding these camps? If I can recall, the movie, Stalag 17, the command wore flying waffenfarb. Please tell me more about Stalag command personnel. Were these men just civies, veterans, second line troops or wash outs?

Thank you! I am redoing the Sideshow figs of Schultz and Klink. Schultz wears a WWII wound badge which I think is supposed to be WWI. He also wears 2 campaign ribbons . One is the luftwaffe years of service ribbon and the other I cannot identify. He is an oberfeldwebel.
here is a link to their character desriptions on Wikpedia

Hi TS,
I hope I can help you some. Most Luft Stalag personel were once in a Luftwaffe combat unit. As I remember it at the beginning of the war the camp personel were either too old to serve in combat or wounded in combat and could not return to combat duty.
All branches of the Luftwaffe served in the camps. Flight,Arty,Infantry, they all had duty in the camps,it was not just the Flight crews.
I hope this helps,
GJ
